Foster families play such a crucial role in providing stability and support for children in need. The HALO Awards recognizes the extraordinary efforts of our foster families and is a way for Kids Central to show appreciation for their dedication and compassion.
This year’s HALO theme was “Disco Ball: The 1970s” and our foster families, staff and dignitaries did not disappoint when it came to showing off their 70s attire!
We were honored to have DCF Secretary, Shevaun Harris, join us at the awards along with former Senator, Dennis Baxley, DCF Central Region Director of Children Legal Services, Maxine Henry and Kids Central Board Members Matt Bartoli, Jim Nations, Diana Brown, Gordon Johnson, Brad Rogers and Kevin McDonald.
Independent Living Navigator, Abigail Herrin and Keynote Speaker, Tony McCoy, inspired the crowd with their words of wisdom and encouragement, reminding the foster families that what they do matters. Their speeches resonated deeply, reinforcing the invaluable role foster families play in the lives of children in need.
The nominees who received a HALO Award this year went above and beyond to ensure that no foster child goes without a secure place to call home. Every child that enters their home leaves knowing they are loved, worthy, and important.
We can not thank our foster families enough for all they do for the children in our system of care!
