Veraunda Jackson is a Florida native who is a proud graduate of the Florida State University College of Law. She has a diverse background that includes her passion as a trainer who educates to empower and elevate people and systems. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Florida State University with a minor in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M University. She has been both a radio and television personality.
She started her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, but served as a Guardian Ad Litem during college providing pro-bono representation to children in the family and dependency court systems. Her last assignment as a prosecutor in the specialized unit of child abuse and sex crimes unit led her to join the Department of Children and Families in November of 2004 as a Senior Attorney for what was then known as Child Welfare Legal Services. She served 10 years as a Senior Attorney with the Department before expanding her child welfare service as an Operations Manager with Community Based Care of Central Florida. She returned to DCF in 2014 with a new set of professional tools that allowed her to serve as the Criminal Justice Coordinator for the Central Region of the Department of Children and Families. In that role she was the Department’s specialist in cases involving Human Trafficking, Missing Children and Unaccompanied Minors. Her work in the child welfare system has been recognized through a variety of awards to include the Secretary’s Excellence in Child Welfare Award, the Central Region Outstanding Legal Advocate Award, the Kids Central Partner of the Year Award and the United States Department of Justice Distinguished Public Service Award.
Veraunda is an international speaker, trainer, consultant and author who is dedicated to personal as well as professional development. She is also engaged in her local community. She has served as a past president of the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., mentors teens and young adults as well as serves the homeless. She practices work life balance by enjoying our Florida Beaches and exploring while traveling the United States and around the world.
