Our System of Care

Kids Central’s system of care is comprehensive, innovative, and impactful. Together with our partner agencies, we administer adoption and foster care, abuse and neglect prevention programs, caregiver services, child welfare case management, our Healthy Start initiative for expectant mothers, and more. Our multifaceted system of care has a single essential objective: Building Better Lives for local children and families.

Florida’s child welfare system of care is unique. Beginning in 1998, a series of laws were passed to reform Florida’s child welfare system-Privatization of Foster Care and Related Services Act.

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) procures and contracts with community-based care (CBC) lead agencies like Kids Central to create local systems of care. CBCs develop the system of care based on the community’s needs.

Contracted case management agencies (CMAs), service providers, and Kids Central deliver direct and indirect services to clients.
